There's still a while before the Oscars, but the Golden Globes announced their nominees today, and while Frost/Nixon, Doubt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button all received five nominations, Kate Winslet will be dueling against herself in the Best Drama category. \"Milk\" gets SAG nods for Penn, Brolin and cast...
Excuse me while I fall asleep at my desk! Got up at 5:15 a.m. and had to jam out of the house to get to the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood for the 6 a.m. announcement of the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. I was excited when the cast of "Milk" announced in the outstanding cast category and Sean Penn and Josh Brolin were nominated in the individual acting categories.
I had to zip over to the newsroom and write a story in less than two hours and here it is:

As for shows already in production, we are exploring every option includi

Dustin Hoffman & Emma Thompson Find Love in 'Last Chance Harvey'
Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson play an unlikely pair looking for new beginnings in the offbeat comedy 'Last Chance Harvey,' and they make a strong case to ET's Thea Andrews for late-blooming love!
"I think [a second chance at love] exists; it may not exist to the degree that we would like it to, but it's there," says Dustin, adding with a laugh, "Maybe not in Los Angeles. You shouldn't be lookin' in this town. Love of one's self, maybe."
"I love watching people who are not 18 f

Trailer Watch: Richard Curtis’ The Boat that Rocked
A fan of Richard Curtis, I am. The long time writer of the Mr. Bean series (of which I’m not really a fan) has recently taken to directing as well as writing, churning out one of my favorite comedies of the past few years. I am referring, of course, to 2003’s Love Actually, one of the sweetest and most endearingly fun films in recent history, holiday themed or otherwise. Curtis is currently putting the finishing touches on his second directorial work, The Boat that Rocked, an ensemble comedy abo

If the film can trick the audience into forgetting that they know the story already, it is a sure sign that all is well. Furthermore, tension can be explicitly built into the foreknowledge of doom, where the suspense comes not from 'will it all go wrong?' but rather 'how will it all go wrong?'.A bit of

Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson Talk "Last Chance Harvey" - VIDEO
“Last Chance Harvey” has been playing the film festival circuit the past few months. It opens in limited release Dec. 25, 2008, and wide release on Jan. 16, 2009.
The offbeat comedy stars Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson as an unlikely pair looking for new beginnings. Hoffman is a down-on-his-luck jingle writer who flies to London to attend his daughter’s wedding, only to learn that she’d prefer her stepdad (James Brolin) to walk her down the aisle. Dejected, he skips

Behind the Scenes of 'Valkyrie'
Tom Cruise has been more in the spotlight over
the past couple of weeks than we've seen him in a couple of years. He is, of course, trying
to earn back the trust of his audience after a series of bizarre incidents in
the public eye. Also, his Mission: Impossible 3 didn't do the kind of
business the other films in the series had, and Lions for Lambs was the
biggest bomb he's probably ever had.
So, Cruise is playing nice with the media, not attack

Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz on DOG WHISPERER
DOG WHISPERER is a show I really love. Every time I am blown away by what Cesar Milan is able to do with the dogs.
On Sunday, December 28 at 8pm on the National Geographic Channel, Cesar will try to help Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz and their dogs before the arrival of their first baby. Of course by now Ashlee Simpson already had a baby boy, but I think it might be fun to check it out.
You can watch a preview for the episode below.
'Valkyrie' Is A Decently Made Thriller That's Largely Forgettable
Reviews for "Valkyrie" seem politely half hearted. Jeffrey Wells called it "passable," Anne Thompson's headline review was "Not Bad" (though she did call if "fun") and Variety's Tom McCarthy said, the film, "finally takes flight as a thriller in its second half but never soars very high."They're mostly all on the money "Valkyrie" is a half-way competent and entertaining thriller that isn't terrible, but it's not very good either. If you haven't already heard, it's about an alliance of German "noble heroes"
