10 Careers That Need to Backtrack to the ’90s
I’ve taken note of at least 10 individuals (actors, actresses and a couple filmmakers) who have new films out this month (I’m counting the Labor Day weekend, too) who are due for a visit from the Ghost of Movies Past.
More specifically, these people need to backtrack to the ‘90s, which is when most of them did their last truly great work. Perhaps they need to take a look at that earlier work and remember what it was they used to do. Or perhaps they just need to get advice from the Coen brothers, who

'W.' trailer: Can his expose of George W. Bush get Oliver Stone back in the Oscars derby?
Oliver Stone's newest film, "W.," about the life of the current U.S. commander in chief could well put the three-time Oscar winner back in the derby.
As you will see from the trailer, Josh Brolin eerily embodies George W. Bush, just as his father, James, bore a strong resemblance to President Ronald Reagan when he portrayed him in a 2003 TV miniseries. Oscar winners Richard Dreyfuss as Vice President Dick Cheney and Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush lend support as do Oscar nominee James Cromwell as Preside

And while we regret we have no epic Kim Kardashian traffic mishaps to report (and eventually debate), we can vouch for primo sightings of a single Ryan Gosling, the renowned pool shark Kevin Federline and a symbolic meeting of A-list and Z-list at one of the city's most glamorous steakeries. "W." TV Spot
It will be interesting to see how both sides of the aisle react to this movie. If it’s seriously damaging to the President’s reputation (which is how the clips look), I can only imagine that the Republicans will be crying and the Democrats will be cheering. And vice versa.
And I just have to say how much I love this poster.

"W" Preview and Trailer
W. is headed to screens Oct. 17, 2008. It’s Oliver Stone’s story about George W. Bush, taking us through his life, struggles and triumphs, marriage to Laura, development of his faith, and the critical days leading up to his decision to invade Iraq.
What do you think about this? I just keep thinking how weird it would be to have a movie made about you. I’m sure Stone will give us his version of the events, and they’ll probably be really dramatic and possibly untrue. I’d like s

Election season: Three political movies for fall
It’s hard to say whether Hollywood has Election Fever, or why symptoms of that fever would show up, all at once, just before a showing of Burn After Reading—in which the U.S. government is like somebody’s exasperated dad, at best—but there’s a definite theme to the theatrical fare this fall. Come October, the roster is packed with political movies, from pomp-and-circumstance dramas to smaller, more character-driven stories. Here are a few slated for release before Christmas:

Prison Break 4.3: “Shut Down”
I couldn’t place it last week, but Wyatt (the company’s hitman who is trying to track down the Brothers) seems to be channeling Laurence Fishburne from “The Matrix” series. So, from now on, I’m going to refer to him as Morphius.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on to the episode, which was actually a little bit of filler. As Don (the FBI agent) struggled to keep the operation alive, Michael had to break into an internet hub in Anaheim to retrieve a couple of emails (because Roland

It’s been rumored for awhile, but the deal has been inked for Laurence Fishburne to replace William Petersen on “CSI” mid-season, according to TVWeek.

Fishburne wins case in rather dry "Thurgood"
More effective as history lesson than theater, "Thurgood" is the sort of biographical one-person show that once populated Broadway stages with regularity.
Marking the playwriting debut of George Stevens Jr. -- who dealt with the subject in ABC's 1991 miniseries "Separate but Equal," starring Sidney Poitier -- the drama serves as an excellent vehicle for Laurence Fishburne, here delivering a bravura performance.
Anyone who has seen any of the innumerable predecessors in the genre knows what to expect.

On Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 6:39 a.m. the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a domestic violence call at 3282 Spring Mountain Road. Upon officers arriving, they observed an African American male holding a knife and standing over an African American female.
Officers learned the male was Marion Hugh Knight a.k.a. Suge Knight. After interviewing the female, officers learned that she is Knight’s girlfriend of three years, and that they were involved in an argument. Allegedly, Knight p
