Sure, Batman and various other comic book characters have battled the creatures from the "Alien" movie franchise on more than one occasion (my favorite being Warren Ellis' "WildC.A.T.S/Aliens" story), but here's a crossover I never expected to see

DVD: Monsters vs Aliens, For retail & rental, (Paramount): PHOTO
Barnstorming title, shame about the slick but empty cartoon that goes with it. Its heroine is a 50ft woman (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) who is recruited by the US government to repel an Alien invasion, alongside a few other classic movie monsters. The film has all the over complicated, videogame-friendly action sequences we've come to expect from second-tier computer animations, as well as the customary ironic one-liners and pop-culture references. But it doesn't have much else. var ref_url=...

SAVE Law & Order: Criminal Intent - Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe HAVE BEEN FIRED!: PHOTO
There is a major upheaval going on right now. The USA network has fired two of it’s biggest stars on Law & Order: Criminal Intent .
-Law & Order: CI' scoop: Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio named new captain: PHOTO
Law & Order: CI is undergoing yet another staffing change. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has been cast as the show’s new captain, sources confirm to me semi-exclusively. She replaces Eric Bogosian, who is the latest CI vet to depart as the show shifts its focus to Jeff Goldblum and new partner Saffron Burrows. As I previously reported, Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Bogosian will exit after appearing in the show’s two-part season 9 premiere. Rumor has it one of the...
Rumor Mill: AVATAR 2 Will *NOT* Be On Pandora? Ridley And Cameron Teaming Up For ALIEN Prequel?: PHOTO
Jim here. Remember I had something to tell you guys last week about AVATAR? Well, I think the timing is right after seeing just how freakin' well the second trailer has kick started AVATAR's public awareness. This is from some of my top sources and you know how well they deliver the groceries right? :-) Straight from their email: "What would you think if I told you that should a sequel to AVATAR happen, it might not even take place on Pandora? It's all up the air as of now. But remember I'm...
Movie Review: Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' (3 stars): PHOTO
Michael Jackson , This is it , Movie Reviews By Chris Knight, National Post The prurient and the ghoulish won't get much joy from Michael Jackson's final screen appearance, a concert film with everything but the actual concert. Sure, the singer looks zombie-thin and Alien-angular, but no more so than usual. He might even be described as appearing undead, but he doesn't look ready to cross over, as he did June 25, a mere three weeks before the This Is It concert was slated to...
BEST ACTOR WATCH: Jeff Goldblum in ‘Adam Resurrected’
First, the formerly washed-up Mickey Rourke rebounds with an apparently career-best performance in “The Wrestler” that is generating loud Oscar buzz.
Now Rourke’s relative contemporary, Jeff Goldblum, is setting tongues wagging for another indie effort, albeit one with a much lower profile going in. As Holocaust survivor Adam Steiner in “Adam Resurrected,” the latest film from the ever-underrated Paul Schrader, Goldblum is attracting the kind of attention he hasn’t seen

The wait will soon be over for fans of “Astro Boy.” Summit Entertainment and Imagi Studios today announced the animated film is scheduled for release Oct. 23, 2009.
“A beloved icon for over half-a-century, this marks Astro Boy’s first time on the big screen, making our film one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year,” said President of Imagi Studios Erin Corbett.
Directed by David Bowers, the film is based on Osamu Tezuk’s popular manga and follows the adventures of a young robot

Worst Remakes Cont'd -- By: Jonah Goldberg: PHOTO
So here's a working list, I will add to it as the day progresses. The Haunting (See Miller below) Caddyshack II [ Update : Woops sorry, this is a sequel not a remake] Manchurian Candidate — with Denzel Washington The In-Laws — with Michael Douglas Psycho Any number of Invasion of the Body Snatcher remakes (though I liked the Donald Sutherland one). The Pink Panther with Steve Martin (and pretty much anyone else other than Sellers). Rollerball Amityville Horror Update : A friend...
Law & Order ditching D'Onofrio, Erbe, Bogosian: PHOTO
It's shake-up time for Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Sources from the L&O galaxy say that stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian are expected to be phased out at various points during the series' upcoming ninth season. Julianne Nicholson already has departed because she is having a baby. Executive producer Dick Wolf is turning to Jeff Goldblum, who joined the cast last season, to remain as lead detective in the series, along with Saffron Burrows, who was recently cast...
Doug Jones Unsure Of 'Silver Surfer' Movie, Addresses 'Green Lantern' Rumors
From serving as the shiny messenger of a world-devouring Alien in " Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer " to drunkenly singing as Hellboy's brainy bud Abe Sapien, actor Doug Jones has held some of the most coveted supporting roles in comic book film history. That's why when rumors of the actor's involvement in fan-favorite properties arise it's easy to believe the hype. Unfortunately, for those awaiting Jones' appearance in certain cosmic roles, there might be a wait. In an...
Illegal Alien Halloween Costume (PHOTO) Causes Anger; Really That Bad?
The new "Illegal Alien" costume is causing a bit of a political bust. These illegal Aliens are not from Mexico, but from something out of a Star Wars movie. The costume consists of a ridiculous orange Prison jumpsuit with the words "ILLEGAL Alien" written in big letters on the shirt. Add to that a green card, and an Alien mask and you've got yourself a lawbreaker. Is this costume hurtful or mean you think? One lady working for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles had...
‘Astro Boy’ taking off in fall 2009
The studio has set Oct. 23 as its release date for the pic, taking a page from fall animated releases like Exodus/TWC’s “Igor,” which opened to $8 million this past weekend.
Imagi Studios is producing the futuristic “Astro Boy,” which centers on the adventures of a robot boy with superhero powers. The character was originally launched as a Japanese manga and enjoyed a revival of sorts with the emergence of that genre; the Cartoon Network has aired episodes of the original Japa
